Film Scoring

When needing music to support your video project, whether it be a TV commercial, YouTube episode, or full length feature film, you want something that not only reflects what you’ve created, you want something that adds another dimension to your narrative. You want the characters to seem more human and the drama more dramatic. You want the viewer to feel IN the movie.

Even though I absorbed music from many environments as a child, the moment that music truly came alive for me was seeing Star Wars when I was six. I felt IN that universe. And fortunately for me, the film broke in the final act. Why was that good? Because I got to go see it AGAIN. And would you believe the film broke in about the same place at the next place I saw it, too. GREAT! I got to hear that soundtrack again! I was hooked.

Now, I’m not special because Star Wars inspired me to go into music. There’s about 3 billion other musicians my age that had the same experience. Big whoop…so what…right?

What that means is that since those three showings of George Lucas’ masterpiece I’ve spent my entire life unlocking the harmonic and textural methods that underlie the musical storytelling that occurs, not just in Star Wars, but in movies and programs of all types. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of studying with many great composers including Ralph Ford and Robert W. Smith (Troy), Ben Newhouse and Donald Watkins (Berklee), and Natalie Williams and Leonard Ball (University of Georgia) who’ve given me a wonderful understanding of music from the ancient Greeks to present day.

When you combine my educational background with my extensive experience with a myriad of styles including rock, pop, jazz, metal, blues, world, and electronica, I am someone with a large quiver of musical arrows from which to choose to create the perfect soundtrack for your project. Even better, I am confident but without ego, and I can work with deadlines. I have an extensive suite of sounds and samples, and I have the dedication you need to get your audience IN your latest masterpiece.
